May 1, 2012 May is here
and it looks more like spring every day. Sunday, May 13th, is Mother’s Day. If
you still have the opportunity, please remember to show your love and appreciation to your mother. You
can also do something special for the mothers in your life. Monday, May 28th, is Memorial Day.
Take time to remember those who paid the ultimate price while fighting for our freedoms. Try to
say “thanks” to a family of a fallen hero during this special time. THANKS to all of you who came out to our 2nd Annual Cruise-In, Blessing of the Bikes, and Bike Show during Easter weekend.
We plan to do it again next Easter weekend – Saturday, March 30, 2013! We are selling hanging baskets that will be here just in time for Mother’s Day. The choices
are geranium tango (dark red), million bells – pink bliss (pink, white, & rose), million bells – Hawaiian
kiss (gold & soft pink), million bells – Hawaiian flamingo (pink, purple & neon. They are
$15.50 each and can be picked up at Campfield Church (369 Campfield Church Road – Ellenboro NC) on Saturday, May 12th,
from 10 AM until 12 PM. Just contact us if you would like to make a purchase. HERE ARE A FEW OF THE UPCOMING EVENTS IN OUR AREA: MAY 1st –
CFR BIKE NIGHTS at SONIC Drive-In - Our CFR Bike Nights at Sonic Drive-In in Forest City NC will begin on Tuesday, May 1st.
Plans are to do this each Tuesday evening from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM thru September 25th. The West
Point Carolina Faith Riders are working on a project to provide school supplies for people in our area. Please
see the attached flier for more information. MAY 3rd –
NATIONAL DAY of PRAYER / COMMUNITY PRAYER RALLY @ McCain Field – This is a multi-denominational worship service on the
National Day of Prayer. This event will be held at McNair Field (Forest City Owls Stadium) in Forest City, NC beginning at
6:30 PM. The rain site is Adaville Baptist Church in Spin dale NC. You are welcome to
ride and drive in – just be there! MAY 11th -
CFR MEETING @ ROLLINS CAFETERIA - This is our Carolina Faith Riders regular meeting night which is scheduled for the 2nd Friday
of each month. Our plans are to begin eating at 6:30 PM. Our short meeting and devotions
will start soon afterwards. Please plan to come out. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A CF MEMBER
TO ATTEND! We hope to see you there. MAY 12th
– RIDE AGAINST CYSTIC FIBROSIS – Riding for Landon Pruett – The West Point CFR is sponsoring a Ride
Against Cystic Fibrosis on Saturday, May 12th, at West Point Baptist Church (1160 Union Road – Rutherfordton NC).
This ride is to benefit Landon Pruett, a 22 month old cystic fibrosis patient, and his family. Registration
begins at 9 AM and the ride begins at 11 AM. Lunch will be provided. Please see the
attached flier for more information. JUNE 2nd –
ANGEL WINGS 2nd CHANCE RIDE (in memory of Zahra Baker) – This is a ride to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research
Hospital and the Children’s Wall of Tears. The ride will take place at the Hickory American Legion
Fairgrounds (1127 American Legion Ave – Conover NC). Registration is from 8 AM until 10 AM on the
day of the event with the ride starting at 10:30 AM. More information about this event can be found on
Facebook (search on Angel Wings 2nd Chance Ride - 2012). JUNE 3rd –
THUNDER SUNDAY – This is an annual biker event that is held at Mountain Grove Church (2485 Connelly Springs Rd.) in
Granite Falls NC. Former Hells Angels member, Dr. Cliff Black, is the pastor and will be speaking at this
event. The outdoor festivities and music begin at 9 AM and the worship service starts at 10 AM.
Plans are to leave from the Ingles grocery store in Forest City NC (756 S Church Street) at 8 AM! The
church is located approximately 6 miles north of I-40 off of exit 113 (Rutherford College/Connelly Springs). Please
see the attached flier for more information. JUNE 9th –
BIKER BREAKFAST to benefit the WOUNDED WARRIOR Project – This will be at Landmark Baptist Church (1724 E Dixon Blvd)
in Shelby NC. This is near the old Wal-Mart and across US 74 from Keeter Ford. Benefits
from the breakfast go towards the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org). Please see the attached flier for more information. JUNE 16th – GRACE for GABBY – This is a benefit for 6-month old Gabriella Shulga who
was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The benefit will be held at the Kings Mountain
Rescue Squad (1324 Shelby Road) which is near Ingles in Kings Mountain on US 74 Business. The event is
from 11 AM until 7 PM. Please see the attached flier for more information. CAROLINA FAITH RIDERS BIBLE STUDY CLASS continues to meet each Sunday morning at 10 AM at Campfield Memorial Baptist
Church. The church is located on 369 Campfield Church Road in Ellenboro NC. If you are
look for a Bible study in a relaxed atmosphere and a great place of worship, come join us. Ride your bike
or drive your vehicle but come as you are. Every Sunday is Biker Sunday - jeans and leathers are welcome! I have also attached May and June calendars that include these events.
